Easter Dog Treats -Give Your Dog a Natural Alternative!

Easter is almost here. Now your dog can get a gift from the Easter Bunny.  Made with natural ingredients. You are giving your dog a safe healthy treat. Ledfoots Pet Bakery makes decorated dog treats with non-fat yogurt and strawberry for the natural color. We never use artificial coloring or sugar to decorate your dog treats. We are the only dog bakery that uses in house recipe to decorate cakes and treats, you will see a difference in the color. If the color is bright it's artificial coloring. You will notice, pictured above, that color is light. That's because we only use strawberries and nothing more. No other dog bakery is using natural coloring. That's what sets Ledfoots Pet Bakery apart from the rest. We don't use sugar or any ingredients that's not good for them. There's always an alternative and we like you to know about your choices.  Ledfoots Pet Bakery is your option to purchase safe dog treats you can't buy at any store. Tell your family and pet friends and share this story with them.

St. Patricks Day Shamrock Homemade Dog Treats

It's almost here!  In a couple of weeks it will be St. Patrick's day. Yes, time to get your green out. We've been to the Chicago St. Patrick's Day parade and it was a lot of fun. I never seen so many people dress in green before. I like the outfits and costumes they put together. People are very creative.
That's when the wheels started turning about making a healthy dog treat for St. Patrick's day. Shamrock dog treats are made with spinach, which gives these a nice green color the natural way. We don't believe in using artificial coloring. It's not good for them and it would make our dog Miss Daisy sick. So we found a natural healthy solution for her problem and never looked back.   Do you have any problems with your dogs? We want to help you with all your pet treat  needs so please feel free to comment below.

Zuke's Sold to Nestle Purina- Now what do I Do?

If you haven't heard about it already Zuke's Performance Pet Nutrition has become part of NestlĂ© Purina PetCare. This is without a doubt good financially for Zuke's but how about the customers. The reason folks are purchasing from them is healthy safe dog treats made in USA. But who knows what will really change if anything. In the letter on Zuke's website they are planning to add new treats to this line. So there are going to be changes made. So many folks have been hurt by what others consider poor management. Nestle sold tainted dog treats to thousands of people since 2007 and didn't not even recall these horrible treats until recently. So that is voice for concern when your popular dog treat manufacturer just sold to them. So what do you do now? Check out Ledfoots Pet Bakery. Fresh baked dog treats and cat treats made in USA. They use the finest human grade ingredients and all treats are made in small batches for their highest quality control like no other. Stop by and give them a try. You can order their sample dog treat listing for a chance to try a few flavors out.

Let's get America back to work and help support small businesses. You may have a local bakery where you live. Stop in and give them a try. You may be surprised and wonder why you haven't tried them sooner. There are options out there for you. We just want to make you aware of them and hope you try them out.

Keeping Warm this Winter Making Homemade Dog Treats

It's really cold out there. We have had an early winter. According to our calender winter officially starts December 21st. You could have fooled us. Most of the country is getting hit by winter weather. So we hope everyone stays safe. We are trying to keep warm. Wait did they turn off the oven yet? Still baking dog treats I see. It has been busy around here with the holidays around the corner. After the holidays are over will be working on some new dog treats. What new treats would you like to see the bakery make?

Daisy (pictured above) likes to play in the snow. In fact we just bought her and Scooby sweaters to wear in the frigid weather. They do get cold just like us and should not be outside for long periods, when the temperature drops below freezing. So keep them safe and warm.
How do you keep your pets warm?

What kind of weather are you having?

Dog Days of Summer

Dog Days of Summer are here. Nice to relax with the dogs in our yard. There is never enough time since we have been very busy working the farmers markets. It's going well, we have been selling out of dog treats every week. People are learning the need for natural, preservative free treats which are safer and healthier for their pets. We love spreading the word around one person at a time.
Wish we had more time to blog during the summer months, but we will at least post once a week during the summer and back to more informative blogs this fall.

How often do you blog during the summer?
How do you relax?

Wordless Wednesday at the Car Show!

There was no Farmers market in Sycamore last Sunday due to the car show. So we took the day off and went. We got to see a lot of cool classic cars and after the National Anthem was played a B17 Bomber flew over the street. It was pretty cool. I got my cell out in time for these photos.

Have you been to any car shows this summer?

What is the Best Dog Food? Cat Food?

The commercial dog and cat food world is confusing. There are so many brands out there that claim to be natural and healthy for your pets. But you must judge for yourself, given the right information you can make a better choice for them. All pet foods should not contain fillers and additives, but a lot of commercial pet foods do. So I have made your job easier. Here is a small list of natural pet foods without these unhealthy ingredients.

Tuscan Natural Dry Dog Food
Acana Dry Dog Food
Evanger's Dry Dog Food
Orijen Dry Dog Food

These are the top dog & cat foods we recommend.  There are a lot of healthy pet foods on the market today, you just need to know where to look. You won't find this list of pet foods at any big box chain stores like Wal-Mart or Petsmart. So you need to find an independent pet store in your area. Like a dog bakery or natural pet supply store. They carry the best healthy pet foods you can't find anywhere else. You will also find helpful and knowledgeable staff to answer all your questions. Something you can't get at the big box stores is personal attention.  For more information on dog food or cat food you may be feeding your pets now. Check out this link- Dog Food Advisor for complete information on all pet foods. So you can make a better shopping decision.

What dog or cat food do you feed your pets now? Have you thought about switching pet foods?

Do You Shop at Your Local Farmers Market?

Summer is here and so are the local Farmers Markets. We are in Huntley, IL on Saturdays 8am-1pm and on Sundays we are @ Sycamore Farmers Market 10am-2pm. It is so much fun. I love meeting all our customers face to face. The most popular treats we sell at the markets are Fleas Be Gone Dog Treats, Bad Breath Mints dog treats, Savory Sweet Potato, Gourmet Peanut Butter,  and the most popular cat treats are Savory Cheese Cat Treats and Happy Cat Pumpkin Treats. We also have bully sticks, Alzoo Natural Flea and Tick repellents, Bobbi Panter shampoos, dog toys, cat toys and so much more.

There are a variety of vendors at the markets this year. In Huntley Vicki sells her natural soaps, there is also a meat vendor, egg vendor, and of course farmers selling their goods. I enjoy the live entertainment the markets provide. It makes for a great shopping experience. We would love to meet you if you live in the area. Just come out to one of the markets above and tell us you saw this post here and receive special gift from Ledfoots Pet Bakery.

Wordless Wednesday- Homemade Dog Treats!

Homemade dog treats are the best. These pupcakes are made with pumpkin and frosted with non-fat yogurt. Testing out new recipes this week and our taste testers just loved them. The best part our dog with a very sensitive stomach can have them. Since we don't use any preservatives or fillers, which make her sick, it does make a big difference. Feeding Daisy natural dog food and treats is the only way to go. We are very happy with our choice. What food and treats do you feed your pets?

Happy Wordless Wednesday!

Flea & Tick Season is Almost Here- Are you protected?

Spring is finally in the air and now it's time to worry about those pesky bugs. Especially ones that can harm us and our pets. Flea and tick season is just around the corner here in IL. If you live in the most southern states such as Florida, it is a year round task. So we are lucky only to have to worry about it for several months.  Check out the map above to see when you are affected by fleas and ticks in your area.

There are natural products made with essential oils to help fight fleas and ticks. We have tried the wipes by Pets Natural and you must coat your dog from head to paw in order for it to be effective. Then in several days you must re-apply. It's a lot of work if you are pressed for time. Being so busy with Ledfoots Pet Bakery just don't have the time. We do use Front line recommended by our vet. I don't like putting chemicals on them, but we don't have fleas or ticks. Our dogs get Fleas Be Gone Dog Treats. These homemade dog treats are healthy and full of bug fighting ingredients which are all natural. Giving them their daily dose I have noticed mosquito's staying away from them and attacking us. Must eat our dogs treats. LOL

Most importantly find what works best for you. If you have the time use the natural products which are safer and healthier for you and your pets. If you do go the natural route it's recommended that you give them Fleas Be Gone Dog Treats for added protection.
