Keeping Pets Safe during Thanksgiving!

Who can't resist the cute face pictured above. Especially during Thanksgiving Holiday it is tempting to give them something from our plates. Keep in mind what you want to give them, may not be good for them. Giving green beans alone is ok but giving them green bean casserole will make them sick. Just like Pumpkin is also good for your dog but don't serve them pumpkin pie. You know chocolate is bad for them, so keep the chocolate away from the little kids, who may not realize and feed them.
No matter how good you think the guacamole is, you shouldn't give it to your dog. Avocados contain a substance called persin. It's harmless for us humans who aren't allergic. But large amounts can be toxic to dogs.
Grapes and raisins are no good. So you should never feed them a grape or raisin. Although it isn't clear why, grapes and raisins can cause kidney failure in dogs. Just a small amount can make a dog sick. So keep these out of reach.
Dogs should not eat macadamia nuts or foods containing macadamia nuts because they can be fatal. As few as six macadamia nuts can make a dog ill. That's why it's a good idea to not feed them casseroles, which have number of ingredients that can make them really sick.
Please don't feed them turkey skin and bones. The skin is fat and fat trimmed from meat is no good, and it may cause pancreatitis in dogs.  Bones can also splinter and cause an obstruction or lacerations of your dog's digestive system. So don't give them turkey bones to chew on.
So while making your plans for the holiday just keep these things in mind. To make it the best for people and our pets.

Wishing you, your family and your pets a safe Thanksgiving Holiday!

Dog Treat Recalls-What is safe?

We learned our lesson when Daisy would get sick from eating store bought treats. Every time we would feed her one she would vomit. She could not digest them thankfully. That is when I really started to read the labels. Could not believe what they put in them,  I just could not pronounce any ingredients. Shocked by this discovery while searching the list of ingredients online they use stuff we humans should not even eat, so why should the dogs get it?
This is when Ledfoots Pet Bakery got started. For the need of healthy pet treats without any fillers, preservatives or additives. Proudly made in USA! We never purchase any store bought treats for her and Scooby again.  Daisy is now doing so much better. We just want to help spread the word about treats you buy at the store. They are not safe. Everyday we hear of new dog treats and food being recalled. Just this month Baileys Choice is now added to this growing list of recalls. To see this list just go to this link- FDA.gov/recalls   Review it to make sure you don't have anything that could make your pets sick.

For healthier pet treats you can make at home. If you don't have the time Ledfoots Pet Bakery will make them for you and ship them to your door. No need to buy anything that is not safe for them anymore. Bakery dog treats are made in small batches for highest quality control standards like no other. Made with the finest human grade ingredients. Helping you save time, gas and have happier healthier pets.

What treats do you feed your pets?

Wordless Wednesday- Nap Time

Scooby likes to sleep with his teddy bear. The most amazing thing, it's filled with stuffing and he has not even tried to rip it open. I guess it's his favorite. Hump day is a great day for a nice nap. So what are you doing today?

Happy WW!

What Dog Toys are Indestructible?

Lots of folks have asked us for Indestructible dog toys. They often complain about their dogs ripping up toys with in 5 minutes of receiving. There's basically no such thing Indestructible. Any toy you give your dogs after constant chewing will have the same results. We have found Tuffys dog toys being the strongest dog toys on the market today. Our two labs haven't been able to rip these toys open and we are truly amazed. We don't have aggressive chewers, but when it comes to toys Miss Daisy tries to get the squeakers out. She can't with Tuffy dog toys.
When you have an aggressive chewer, you can't let them chew a toy all day long. When faced with aggressive chewer it's best to take the toy away and give them a safe alternative. Antlers for dogs are a safe choice since they don't break or splinter and can last up to 6 months. We are going on over a year now and we won't use anything else.

Do you let your dogs chew up their toys or do you take them away after play time is over?

(We were not compensated by anyone for this blog. We blog about our experience with pet products Ledfoots Pet Bakery carries in stock, so we do not sell you anything that is not safe or high quality. Ledfoots Pet Bakery tries out all pet products before we decide so sell to general public.)
