Saving Dogs From Puppy Mills- How you can Help?

 

Helping dogs and pets is our business. That's why Ledfoots Pet Bakery signed up to pledge- We are a puppy friendly store. We believe in humane treatment for all animals.  Having heard too many horror stories from puppy mills, it's time to make a stand and get the word out. Please tell your family and friends about not supporting puppy mills. Have them look at their local animal shelter instead. The chance if you buy a puppy from a store, he or she probably came from a puppy mill. Lots of folks may not know this and teaching them the difference is your best way to help.

 

 

  

Ledfoots Pet Bakery believes in adoption. There are so many pure breed dogs at your local shelter who need their forever home. We're working with our local shelter and help in any way we can. That's why we donate 10% of proceeds to help buy food and cleaning supplies.  Have you shopped a store that supports causes like these? You can help to. If you shop with Ledfoots Pet Bakery you are supporting pets in need. You can also help in many different ways. Check with your local shelter they are always looking for volunteers or get a supply list and purchase what they need.  Local shelters also take donations so you can help in that way too. How ever you decide to help,  you are making a difference and are doing a good thing by saving lives and inhumane treatment.

Cat Condos are Easy to Make!

Cats love to hide and need a place to do just that. Here is Rascal in his favorite spot. His dad made this kitty condo just for him and his brothers. Now they all have a place to go. Not only do they have a place to hide, but they also have a place to play with each other. Like Rascal and Ozzy pictured below. Their kitty condo has three cubby holes and the platform on top. Sometimes we see all three cats in each cubby hole. It's nice to see them use their condo all the time.

The cat condo was easy to make. We went to the local hardware store and purchased a cement tube. We used the old carpeting from our house. And glue was used to hold the carpet on. The platform is made with wood we had around the house.  The hardest part was to figure out where to put the cubby holes and how big they should be.

St. Patricks Day Shamrock Homemade Dog Treats

It's almost here!  In a couple of weeks it will be St. Patrick's day. Yes, time to get your green out. We've been to the Chicago St. Patrick's Day parade and it was a lot of fun. I never seen so many people dress in green before. I like the outfits and costumes they put together. People are very creative.

That's when the wheels started turning about making a healthy dog treat for St. Patrick's day. Shamrock dog treats are made with spinach, which gives these a nice green color the natural way. We don't believe in using artificial coloring. It's not good for them and it would make our dog Miss Daisy sick. So we found a natural healthy solution for her problem and never looked back.   Do you have any problems with your dogs?
