Pet Treat Recall-Where to buy Safe Treats

Every day I keep hearing about new recalls, recently it's  been on pet treats. Since all the recalls on commercial pet foods I am not surprised by all the pet treats being recalled. It seems like someone is finally keeping an eye out for our animals. It should not have taken so long. If you feed your pets treats from the store, you should check to see if you purchased a recalled item.

Kasel Associates Industries Inc. announced a wide range of meat-based dog treats suspected of Salmonella contamination. The products were manufactured between April 20 and September 19, 2012 and distributed to a number of retailers, including Target, Petco, Sam’s Club and Costco.
Kasel has previously announced three recall notices for specific products manufactured during this time, after the Colorado Department of Agriculture found Salmonella in a retail sample of a Kasel product. Follow-up testing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration found that 100 percent of tested products, as well as 48 out of 87 environmental samples, were contaminated with one of 10 Salmonella strains.
Affected brands include Boots & Barkley, Bixbi, Nature's Deli, K9 Chicken, TDBBS and Nutri-Pet.

Bravo just recalled 2lb tubes of Chicken blend raw-frozen diet food for dogs and cats because of possible salmonella contamination.

This is a small list and does not cover every recall, for more information, you can check this website daily to find out the most recent recalls just go to fda.gov

Here at Ledfoots Pet Bakery we make our own treats in small batches using the finest human grade ingredients. We do not use a manufacture of any kind, like companies in the latest recalls.  Because these other companies are using the same manufacturer there is a greater chance of cross contamination. That is why you hear of so many recalls at once. Ledfoots pet treats are never mass produced. We are proud of that. Yes, our treats are a little more expensive, but you do get what you pay for. Your pets will be much happier and healthier and you will be proud to give them a healthy safe treat that's made with love.

  4. It's a worry, but it's good that people are becoming more aware. I think that more people will turn to smaller companies for peace of mind.

  5. Thank you for this information. We are very found of treats, and our mom is going to check the FDA web-site for us. The humans shop at Sam's Club and do buy treats there. Thanks for looking out for all the kitties and doggies.

  6. It's so sad that there are so many companies out there who don't keep a close enough eye on their manufcacturing of pet products! :-( To be quite honest, I'm actually super happy that I'm a picky eater!! I completely agree with Clowie, it's only a matter of time before almost everyone starts turning towards smaller companies like Ledfoots!
